They are now becoming more available in Australia as breeding results improve.

They have been in aviculture for many years overseas, unlike here in Australia, where we have only had the pleasure of enjoying these birds from 1992.

From our own experiences we found that the Yellow-winged subspecies could be picked out one by one in a flock of some 30 Blue-fronted Amazons, really stood out with their size and colour formation and are, in our opinion, the 'cream-of-the-crop' of the Blue-fronted Amazons.

So far we have found the Yellow Winged Amazon to be more out-going and inquisitive and we are still to test this with other bloodlines to see if this is more to do with our bloodlines than the subspecies in general.
